NORMAL FRIDAY

Conscious consumption every day of the year

Before, the last Friday of November was a typical day, remember? It was a normal Friday: you bought because you really needed to, just like any other day.  Now, everything has changed and the system marks the times when we must spend, in the case of Black Friday, always spend more than we need.

Don't let the system decide for you

Huge sale, settlment price ,aggressive oferts impossible to ignore. Black Friday not only means that consumers spend an average of 200 euros on superfluous products, but also that they are complicit in a precarious working environment, due to the poorly paid hiring of workers in different sectors such as transport and commerce. On a social level, the anxiety of consuming is generated weeks before the ''big Friday'', where people are exposed to a bombardment of offers that generate an imposed buying urge in the fear of losing the opportunity to get something at a lower price, even if they don't even need it.

In addition to the labour and social impact, have you ever thought about the environmental impact of this day?

  • The most consumed products are not the most basic necessities. 39.2% of them are electronic devices (telephones, tablets, televisions, cameras and household appliances) and 33.74% are fashion (clothing, footwear and accessories).
  • The packaging of the articles, whether cardboard or plastic, is another of the major concerns produced by Black Friday. Millions of tons of waste are generated, ending up in the best of cases in landfills.
  • The shipments are translated into millions of kilos of CO2 emitted by the trucks and vans (estimated at 80kg /person). All this without counting product returns which amount to 33% due to impulse buying.

With 'Normal Friday' we make it possible to buy in a different and conscious way "

At this point... is a day like Black Friday expected to take advantage of the discount or make unnecessary consumption? Shouldn't we reflect on this? At Vesica Pisces we advocate responsible shopping every day of the year.

For us it's just any Friday where we don't give discounts because we offer a fair price all year round, where we continue to handcraft each order and package it with our eco packaging. It is a normal Friday, where we will continue to try to be as ethical and sustainable a consumer alternative as possible in order to offer our product to a conscious public that knows what it wants.
